Francis Rena Black the daughter of Edward and Sophie (Kromminga) Bleeker was born July 26 1923 on a farm north of Everly, Ia. She was raised on a farm north of Everly and attened the County school that was on the north end of the family farm. She moved to Spencer in 1937 and attended high school. During high school,she worked at Carolls Bakery.
Fran married Donald G. Black on July 26, 1944, in South Sioux City NE. Following thier marriage they continued to live in Spencer where Fran worked at Montgomery Ward for 7 years and latter as as a bookeeper and sales associate for Redmond shoes in Spencer for 36 years until her retirment in 1991. Following her retirment, she workd demonstrations at Super Valu. Fran was a Sundy Scool Teacher for many years at the Hope Reformed Church. She througly enjoyed sporting events with the Spencer schools, all of nature and crocheting afghans for family and friends. She loved being at the lake and watching her family having fun times. She most recently an active member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Spencer. Fran served 100 hours for the Spencer Hospital Auxiliary.
Fran passed away st St. Luke Luthern Home in Spencer, Iowa.on Tuesday May 19, 2009 at the age of 85.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother Orville Bleeker.Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Donald of Spencer, Iowa; one daughter, Diana and her husband Gary Kilpatrick of Spirit Lake, Iowa; one grandson Jon Kilpatrick and his wife Bonnie; two great- grandchildern; Breanna and Dylan; one sister, Lucille Fear of Spencer; one brother, LaVern Bleeker of Phoenix, Az. other relatives.
