Final rites for O. B. Knudson, 79, of Linn Grove, were held Tuesday afternoon at two
o'clock at the Trinity Lutheran church in Linn Grove with Rev. D.L. Brevik, officiating.
Burial was in Barnes Township Cemetery with the Henry Funeral service in charge.
Mr. Knudson, a long time resident of Linn Grove, died early Monday morning at the Spencer hospital following a lingering illness.
Pallbearers were Sigfred Rokkan, Robert Roberts, Albert Nelson, Oliver Samuelson, Myron Hanson and Albert Mickelson.
Oliver Bernard Knudson, son of pioneer parents, Syver and Rachel Knudson, was born on a farm near Linn Grove, Iowa on September 26, 1875. He was baptized in early Infancy and confirmed In the Little Sioux Valley church near Rembrandt. He attended the public schools of the community and took up the work of his youth, farming in this community all of his life until his retirement on December 1, 1943, when he moved into Linn Grove with his wife and family.
He was united in marriage on September 29, 1897, with Emma Peterson This union was blessed with seven children; Clara, at home; Sever, of Sioux Rapids; Mrs. Beda Meyer of Peterson; Mrs. Corinne Maxwell of Cherokee: Mrs. Evelyn Garringger of Sioux Rapids; Mrs. Bernice Budolfson and Mrs. Wilma Budolfson of Minneapolis, Minnesota in addition to the widow and children, he leaves to mourn his passing, a sister. Mrs. Rosalia Skjong of Minneapolis, thirteen grandchildren and six greatgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister.
Mr. Knudson was one of the pioneer members of this community until his passing, remained an active and interested member of Trinity Lutheran church in which his children were instructed in the Christian Life.
During the past recent years he suffered the loss of strength and health and on September 4. he entered a coma while undergoing treatment at Spencer Municipal hospital
He passed away quietly early Monday morning. Sept. 6 1954. at the age of 78 years, 11 months, and 11 days
