Hilda Schoenewe, 80, a former Everly school teacher, died Sunday at St. Joseph's Hospital in Elgin, Illinois
The daughter of Hans and Kristina (Christensen) Nordby was born May 17, 1903 at Kimballton. She received her early education in the Kimballton schools and graduated from Harlan High School. She attended Grand View College in Des Moines
Mrs. Schoenewe taught school at Kimballton, Neola, Elkhorn and Everly
She married Henry Schoenewe July 18, 1934 at Kimballton. They made their home in the Everly area, where Henry farmed for many years. After his retirement, they moved to Arnolds Park. In September of last year, she moved to Crystal Lake, Illinois
Survivors include two daughters, Karla Keller of Crystal Lake, Illinois and Audrey Osborne of St. Clairsville, Ohio, one brother, Norman Nordby of Kimballton; one sister, Dagney Garlock of Plover, four
grandchildren and five great grandchildren
Services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Hope Lutheran Church in Everly. The Rev. Roger Hanson officiated
Burial was in the Lone Tree Cemetery in Everly
Casket bearers were David Osborne, Richard Osborne, Ronald Doran, Ronald Schoenewe, Lonnie Wede and Shane Keefer and Willard Spangler was an honorary casket bearer
The Warner Funeral Home of Spencer was in charge of arrangements
