Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon at one thirty o'clock by the Reverend Plummer at the Everly Methodist Church for J. John Jewell, former Everly resident, who died last week in Chehalis, Washington
Mr. Jewell's body arrived Sunday from Chehalis for burial in Lone Tree Cemetery at Everly
John Jay Jewell, the son of Francis and Lucy Jewell, was born in Sheridan, Iowa, April 27, 1871, and died February first at Chehalis, Washington
His early life was spent on a farm near Sheridan
On December 28, 1900, he was united in marriage to Maude Tuttle of Brooklyn. To this union were born ten children.
The first eight years of their married life were spent in and around Sheridan
In the winter of 1907, he with his family, moved to Airba, Colorado, where they spent ten years on a farm. In the spring of 1919, they moved to Everly, where the next 20 years were spent
In October, 1936, he went to Chehalis, Washington, where he lived till the time of his death, which was caused by chronic myocarditis
He is survived by his wife and five daughters, Mrs. Mahlon Doud and Mrs. Oliver Petersen of Grinnell, Mrs. Glenn Doty of Brooklyn, Mrs. Harry Matthiesen and Thelma Jewell of Chehalis, Washington, One son, Allen Jewell, also of Chehalis, two sisters, Mrs. Harry Dayton of Brooklyn, Iowa and Mrs. Peter Wohlenberg of Everly
