Funeral services were held at the Hope Lutheran Church in Everly on Monday, January 24 for Waldo Hansen. Pastor Roger Hanson officiated.
Burial was at the Lone Tree Cemetery, Everly and military services were conducted by the Everly V.F.W.
The casket bearers were Harland Centner, Dennis Wacker, Robert Tesch, Ronnie Fahlenkamp, Orlyn Tesch and Arvin Tesch.
Waldo Emil Hansen, the son of Emil and Mary Lohrman Hansen, was born September 30, 1915, in Everly, Iowa. His childhood years were spent in the Colgate, North Dakota area, and it was in that community that he received his early education. His family returned to the Everly area when he was 16, and for a number of years he helped his father farm.
Waldo entered the military in 1941, serving with the Navy during World War II. Following his discharge in 1945, he returned to Everly and began working for the telephone company.
Waldo was married to Esther Mae Centner Jass on May 29, 1955, in Jackson, Minnesota. They have made
their home in Everly throughout their marriage, where Waldo was employed at the United Farmers Telephone Company. He retired as manager of the company on October 1, 1977, following 30 years of service.
Waldo was a member of Hope Lutheran Church and the V.F.W.
Mr. Hansen passed away on January 20, 1983, at the Veterans Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, at the age of 67 years, three months and 20 days.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Waldo is survived by his wife, Esther of Everly.; two stepchildren, Curtis Jass and his wife, Marlene of Milford and Carol Dorfmeyer and her husband, Robert of Garden Grove, California; six grandchildren, his stepmother, Ida Hansen of Longhouse Residence in Spencer; one sister, Nola, Mrs. Raymond Tesch of Spencer; other relatives and friends.
