Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon, March 27, from the Cobb-Warner Funeral Home in Spencer for Herman Jordan, 72. who died following a heart attack at his home near Spencer Saturday morning.
Mr. Jordan was the father of Mrs. Allison Nelson of Maywood and Mrs. Francis Moeller of Okoboji Township, and was well known in this and the Everly communities. He had not been ill prior to his death, which came as a great shock to his family and friends.
Interment was made in Lone Tree cemetery, Everly.
Mr. Jordan was born at Gladbrook, Tama county, Iowa, on Jan. 16, 1884, and came to Clay county with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hans Jordan, when he was 15. He lived in Summit and Meadow Townships. Clay county, and had been at home In Spencer since 1915. He was president of the Board of Education of Riverton township for many years, was township clerk and trustee, and was active in Farm Bureau. He loved music, and often entertained on his accordion during his younger years. He was a member of the Masonic order, and was a past Worshipful Master of the Everly chapter.
Left to mourn their loss are three daughters, Mrs. Francis Moeller and Mrs. Allison Nelson of Milford and Mrs. Emmons McClung of San Francisco; and two sons. Jack of Spencer and Orlo of Melvin. Eight grandchildren, two brothers, Louie of Everly and Tony of Hartley, and two sisters, Amanda Rohweder of Everly, and Mrs. Herman Streuben of Hartley, also survive.
