Jesse C. Lienemann, well known resident of. Riverton township, died at the Spencer hospital Wednesday afternoon, February 27, 1929, following a serious operation which he had undergone Monday evening of last week. the time of his death he was 33 years. 3 months and 13 days of age.
Funeral .services were held last Saturday afternoon at two o'clock at the First Congretional church of Spencer conducted by the Rev. W.F. Hurst, pastor of the Church of Christ, assisted by the Rev. B.J. Trickey, pastor of the Congregational church. The rites followed a short prayer service held in the Chapel of the Cobb Funeral Home
Mr. and Mrs. S. R. Axe sang three selections, "He Leadeth Me," "Face to Face," and "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere," accompanied by Mrs. C.D. Eckerman at the organ.
Interment was made in Riverside cemetery.
Rev. Hurst chose for his text the twenty-fourth chapter of John, the forty-fourth verse, in which was stated, therefore be ye also ready for such an hour as ye think not the Son of Man will come." Rev. Hurst spoke briefly and fittingly, paying tribute to the man who was so well known in Clay County as a man of tried integrity and worthy. He and his family were esteemed by many. Mr. Lienemann was known as a self-made. man, who worked steadily upward with diligence and patience.
Jesse Lienemann was born November 14, 1895, on his father's farm in Riverton township, located six miles northwest of Spencer. Here he grew to manhood and had continually resided until his illness.
He was united in marriage to Miss Emily Miller of Spencer, Iowa, on October 20, 1917. To this union two children were born, Charles, age 10, and Evelyn, ago 7.
Mrs. Lienemann passed away August 3, 1925.
Mr. Lienemann united with the Christian church of Spencer on April 12, 1924. He was also a member of No. 560 of Everly. Members of the Masonic lodge, Columbia chapter Masonic bodies of Everly and Spencer attended the funeral services in a body.
Surviving Mr. Lienemann are his two children, his aged father Peter Lienemann, two brothers, Jolin Lienemann of Winthrop, Minnesota, and Louis Lienemann of Spencer, other relatives and a large number of friends, testimony of which was given by the large attendance at the funeral rites.
Among those from out of town in attendance at the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. John Lienemann and daughter, Virginia, of Winthrop, Minnesota, and B. L. Lienemann of Lakota, Iowa.
