John Jurgens 1883-1951

John Jurgens, son of Phoebe and John Jurgens, was born August 12, 1883, in Clinton County, Iowa. At the age of 12 he moved with his parents to a farm in Osceola County and then moved to Hartley in 1914 where he resided until his death on July 31, 1951 at 3:15 o'clock a.m. He reached the age of 67 years, 11 months and 18 days.
The deceased was baptized in the Methodist faith in his early years.
His mother and father and one sister and three brothers also preceded him in death.
His niece, Mrs. Gene Wedlake, and her husband have resided with John and his sister, Minnie, ever since their parents passed away, and took care of John during his last serious illness. His sister, Mrs. Bertha Naeve, also helped in caring for him.
He leaves to mourn his death four sisters: Mrs. Emma Zaiser, Minnie Jurgens, Mrs. Bertha
Naeve of Hartley and Mrs. Anna Geiser of Spirit Lake, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends.
Services were held at the Foley Funeral home with Rev. B. H. Romanowski of Trinity Evangelical and Reformed Church officiating.
Mrs. Harold Gonnerman supplied piano music for the service playing "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere" and "Nearer, My God, To Thee".
Pallbearers were Vern Welch, Ingwer Hansen, Marvin Geiser, Earl Zaiser, Harlan Zaiser and
Otto Zaiser.
