The funeral of the late Mrs. Jerry Fallon was held on Tuesday afternoon at one o'clock from the home in Gillett Grove Township and was largely attended by old friends and neighbors
Rev. Geo. Long, pastor of the Congregational church of Dickens, conducted the service and paid a fitting tributes to the memory of the departed one.
Burial was made in Liberty cemetery in Herdland Township.
Deceased whose maiden name was Lavenia Arbell Mates was born April 5,1858, and died at six o'clock on Sunday morning, September 15, 1918, at the age of 60 years, 5 months and 8 days. She was the daughter of John and Catherine Mates, now deceased.
She came to Clay county with her parents in 1881 and settled near Greenville, where on July 31, 1892, she was united in marriage to Jerry Fallon. They established their new home on a farm in that locality where they have always lived. Three children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Fallon, one dying in infancy, the living are John and Bessie.
At the age of twelve years Mrs. Fallon joined the M. E. church and later affiliated with
Harmony Congregational church. She was a splendid woman who lived a true Christian life, loved and respected by all who knew her.
In addition to the husband and children. Mrs. Fallon is survived by one brother, Charles Mates, of Mitchell, South Dakota, and one sister, Mrs. Anna Johnson, also of Mitchell, who are left to mourn the death of this good woman.
