Jasen Allen Petersen the son of Rod and Pam (Johnson) Petersen, was born on March 3, 1975, in Spencer, Iowa. He was raised in Spencer and graduated from Spencer High School. Following graduation, he attended Iowa State University for a short time and then returned to Spencer. Jasen started working at the Prime Rib where he met Melanie.

On October 3, 1996, Jasen married Melanie Hansen in Spencer. Jasen continued to work at the Prime Rib 17 years and also Helen’s Laundry for about 10 years. In 2006 he started working for Sysco Foods as a salesman. Jasen loved to play golf with his buddies. He enjoyed watching NASCAR or any type of racing. He went to car races in Jackson, MN with his dad, and for the last 17 years he’s been going to the racetrack in Kansas City with Melanie and Mark and Julie Brehmer. His favorite drivers were Dave Blaney and his son, Ryan. Jasen loved ISU athletics and was a Minnesota Vikings and Twins Fan. He would attend the Twins games with his son, Luke. Jasen was very dedicated to his family and loved spending time with them. He was a very kind, non-judgmental, and humble person.

Jasen passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2020 at the Spencer Hospital at the age of 45. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Vern and Viola Johnson, his paternal grandparents, Marvin Petersen and Grace Dick and his uncle, Mike Johnson.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Melanie of Spencer, IA; his children: Luke and Morgan; his loyal friend, Bentley; his parents, Rod and Pam Petersen of Spencer, IA; his sister, Rhonda Boeve (Mike) of Ames, IA and their children: Camden and Callen Jase; his father-in-law, Pete Hansen (Jan) of Storm Lake, IA; his mother-in-law, Jane Brown (J.R.) of Graettinger, IA; his sister-in-law, Angie Beschorner (Scott) of Minneapolis, MN and their children: Jordan and Lizzie; his aunt, Marcia Christy (John) of Spencer, IA; his uncle, David Johnson (Becky) of Spencer, IA; several loving cousins; other relatives and many friends.

SERVICES
Services will be 10:30 A.M., Saturday, March 14, 2020 at the Grace United Methodist Church in Spencer.

In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in his name.
