10/29/1924Lizzie Gross Assmussen was born on August 27, 1888, at Harper, Iowa and died October 25, 1924. At the time of her death she was 35 years, 1 month and 23 days of age. She was married February 26, 1908, to Peter Assmussen. To this union five children were born, one died in Infancy. September 15, 1924, the oldest child being 13 years old and the youngest 4 years old.
She was taken sick the first of June. Her case gradually became worse. September 2nd she was taken to the Hartley hospital. She was there five weeks and returned to her home much improved. On Sunday, Oct. 19, she suffered a relapse slowly growing weaker until Saturday morning, Oct.. 25, the death angel called her and she passed away. Besides her husband and children she leaves her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Gross, of Spencer, sister, Mrs. A. P. Maurer of Linn Grove, and six brothers, John Gross of Greenville, Gus Gross of Laurens, Henry and Clarence Gross of Royal, Leo Gross of Detroit, Mich., and Will Gross of Spencer. Funeral services were held at 10 a. m. at St. Louis Catholic church with Father Berry in charge. Interment was made in Riverside cemetery. Out of town relatives were Mrs. Henry Gross of Harper, Mrs. Fred Filderman and Ben Assmussen of West Brook, Minn. The Royal Neighbors attended in a body
