January 26, 2002Services were held Wednesday, January 30 at the Turner Funeral Home in Milford for Carroll Donald Erickson, who passed away Saturday, January 26, 2002 at the Spencer Municipal Hospital. The Rev. James Bruch officiated
Interment was held at the North Lawn Cemetery in Spencer
Erickson was born on January 30, 1924 to George and Goldie Robbins Erickson in Burwell, Nebraska
Don entered the U.S. Army on March 12, 1943 and served at Naples, Foggia, Rome, Arno, North Aooenines and PoValley during his wartime service. He was discharged on December 2, 1945 and honored with medals of Good Conduct, the Purple Heart and Distinguished Unit Badge.
After his discharge from the service, he lived in Cornell, Iowa, where he met and married to Elberta Mae Huss on August 4, 1948
He then worked in Spencer as an auto mechanic before moving to Terril in 1956, where he owned and operated the DX Gas and Repair Station. Later, he drove a milk delivery route for Wells Blue Bunny and worked for the Estherville Schools before his retirement
He was lifetime member of the American Legion and the V.F.W
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Elberta Erickson of Terril; two daughters, Carol Ann Blass and her husband, Randy of Estherville, Karen Lyn Ridenour and her husband, Gary of Okoboji; three grandchildren; Mathew and Steven Blass of Estherville and Lyndsi Ridenour of Okoboji
Survivors also include two brothers; Clarence Erickson and wife, Ivah of Elmore, Minnesota and John Erickson and wife, Jean of Eagan, Minnesota; one sister in law, Mrs. Wally (Esther) Erickson of Cherokee, plus many loved nieces, nephews and their families, as well as a lifetime of special friends
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister and brother in law, Geneva and Earl Farlee; a brother, Wallace Erickson and grand daughter, Katie Lyn Ridenour
Turner Funeral Home of Milford was in charge of arrangements
