February 24, 2002A funeral service for Gertrude Elser Lenz, 84 of Spencer is scheduled for 10:30 a.m., February 27, 2002 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Spencer, with Revs. Roger Linnan and Tim Fitzgerald leading the service.
Mrs. Elser Lenz died at St. Luke Lutheran Home on Sunday, February 24, 2002
Casket Bearers and Honorary Casket Bearers; Mike, David, Greg, Nicholas, Jon, Timothy, Doug, Daniel, Paul, Tom, Steven and Jacquelyn Elser, Theresa Kreiens McCarty, Melany Stehling Cope, Julie Elser Brehmer, Christina Elser Plambeck, Michelle Kreins Franker, Jolene Elser Hightower, Beth Kriens, Ney and Stefan Stehling.
Burial will be at North Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Spencer
Gretrude Anna Lenz, the daughter of John and Kathryn Holtman Laubach was born April 16, 1917 in Moneta. Her childhood years were spent in the communities of Royal and Melvin, where she attended country schools.
She married Erwin Elser on November 26, 1936 in Royal. Following their marriage, they farmed in the communities of Spencer and Lake Park. Mr. Elser died on October 6, 1953.
On October 24, 1964, she married Aly L. Lenz in Spirit Lake. Following their marriage, they moved to Paullina. In 1976, they moved to Spencer where they had since made their home
She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Spencer.
Mrs. Elser Lenz was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, one son, one brother and two sisters.
Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Norma Jean and her husband, Merlyn Kriens of Royal and Kathleen and her husband, Hemann Stehling of Fountain Valley, California; four sons and their wives; John and Maxine Elser of Lake Park, Robert and Donna Elser of Lake Park, Charles and Donna Elser of Webb and Vincent and Barbara of Lake Park; 20 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren, four brothers; Alfred Laubach and Adolph Laubach of Lake Park, William Laubach of Spencer and Harold Laubach of Hartley; one sister, Laura Rechler of May City; other relatives and friends.
