Mrs. Chris Paulsen, a resident of Clay county since 1884 passed away at her home at Royal, Ia., at 11:55 p.m., Wednesday, February 24, 1937, at the age of 84 years 8 months and 15 days. She had been in failing health since Christmas, but a week ago bronchial condition from which she has suffered before became aggravated and that together with old age brought about death.

Mrs. Paulsen was born in Heils Kolding, Denmark, June 11, 1852, and was married to Chris Paulsen April 24, 1880. They came to the United States in 1884 settling at Cedar Falls, Iowa. The following year they moved to Peterson where they established their home for 32 years. In 1917 moved to Royal, Iowa.

She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church in Denmark and since coming to America has been affiliated with the Lutheran church both at Peterson and Royal, she was a faithful member at the time of her death.

She is survived by her husband, one son Paul Paulsen, two daughters, Mrs. Peter Heindyk and Mrs. Henry Jespersen all of Royal, 8 grandchildren also survive. Four sons and two daughters preceded their mother in death.

She will be sadly missed by her loved ones and friends, her smile and comforting words will be missed.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Bertelson Sunday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock from the home and at 2 o'clock from the Bethlehem Lutheran church at Royal. Burial was made in the Oakland cemetery at Peterson.
