Fred Julius Christensen, 80, of Spencer died Wednesday, June 23, in Sioux City.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at Warner Chapel, Spencer. Rev. Tom Dettmer officiating.

Casket Bearers; Dean Ludwig, Sherm Scharnberg, Ronnie Fitzloff, Chris Dudley, William Thiesen, George Chergosky.

Honorary Bearers; Phil Stimpson, Thomas Wakefield, Gary Zahrt, Jack Blankenberg, Robert Birt.

Burial will be in North Lawn Cemetery, Spencer.

The son of N.T. and Julia Bosshart Christensen, he was born November 22, 1913 in Clay County. He received his education in Spencer and graduated from Spencer High School.

Mr. Christensen joined the military and served with the US Navy from February 1, 1942 until he was discharged October 18, 1945.

Following his discharge, he married Ruth Larson.

On December 22, 1971, he married Clara Nelson in Boise, Idaho. Following their marriage they lived in the Spencer area, where they continued to make their home.

Mr. Christensen was a member of the Moose Lodge, VFW, Elks and the American Legion

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

Survivors include his wife, Clara; one daughter and her husband, Candace and Dean Ludwig of Golden Valley, Minnesota; three grandchildren; one sister, Violet Rorah of Spencer; three brothers, Allen and Robert, both of Seaside, Oregon and Glen of Ashland, Oregon; three step children, Jackie Hart of Spencer, Greg Phillips of Lakeville, Minnesota and Gary Phillips; and 12 step grandchildren.

Warner Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
