Services for Wayne Everett Berenger, 64, of Spencer were held Thursday at Warner Funeral Chapel, Spencer. The Rev. Jerry Brown officiated.
Dickens American Legion Post No. 194 conducted military services.

Mr. Berenger died Monday, July 14, 1986 at the Spencer Hospital.

Burial was at North Lawn Cemetery.

Casket Bearers; Ronnie Fitzloff, Gary Lundquist, Cliff Nissen, Bernard Heikens, Pete Leslie and Bob Fitzloff.

Honorary Bearers; Leland Nelson, Ted Alger, Leo Lang, Albert Pullen and M.K. (Pee Wee) Gustin.

The son of Arthur and Martha Scheerhorn Berenger. Mr. Berenger was born August 16, 1921 on a farm in Dickinson County. His childhood years were spent in Dickinson and Clay Counties and he received his education in area country schools.

Mr. Berenger entered the military in 1942 and served with Army during World War II. Following his discharge, he returned to farming in Clay County.

On February 22, 1948, he married Rose Marie Yeager in Spencer. Throughout their marriage, they made their home in Clay County, where Mr. Berenger farmed for many years. Mrs. Berenger died in 1981.

He was a long time member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles.

Survivors include one stepson, Robert Lewis of Spencer; four grandchildren; one great grandchild; one brother, Sam of Mediapolis; and five sisters, Lola Berenger and Carol Stoltenberg of Spencer, Helen Berenger of Royal, Phyllis Weiskircher of Milford and Janice Hansmann of Algona.

In addition to his wife , he was preceded in death by six brothers and two sisters.
