Kayleen Pearlu Rose, the daughter of C.E. and Pearl Ramona Arnold McCarney, was born May 13, 1934, in Redfield, SD. Kayleen spent her early years in Yankton, SD, but also spent time in Rawlins, WY, and Vallejo, CA.

The family moved to Spencer, IA, in 1944, and stayed until 1949 when they moved to Sibley, IA. She graduated from Sibley High School in 1952.

On December 28, 1952, Kayleen married Robert L. (Bob) Rose in Sibley, IA. Kayleen and Bob lived in Tacoma, WA, for two years while Bob was in the Armed Forces, returning to Spencer, IA, in 1955.

Kayleen was a very special person who always had time to make others feel happy and comfortable. Her main focus was always the happiness of her husband and children. However, this same attention to ensuring the well being of her family was also provided without hesitation to friends, both new and old.

For over 20 years, Kayleen enjoyed decorating homes through the furniture store. Kayleen was an amazing volunteer to her church, First Congregational Church in Spencer; the Spencer School system where she did the score board for basketball and baseball for over 40 years; Spencer Family YMCA doing displays; and Spencer Main Street. She enjoyed volunteering with the University of Okoboji Marathon, and the Northwest Amateur at the Spencer Golf and Country Club. She also had a passion for caring for animals in need.

Kayleen passed away at her home on August 2, 2013, at the age of 79. She is preceded in death by her parents; and her daughter, Jonee Kay Rose from cancer on September 19, 2003.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Bob of Spencer; her children: Jeffrey (Jeff) and wife, Debra Rose of Kansas City, MO, James (Jim) and wife, Pam of Mount Dora, FL; and son-in-law, Jim Broughton of Sioux Falls, SD; 2 step-grandchildren: Jason and Justin; other relatives and many friends.
