Mrs. M.C. Maccabee of Royal Called by Death Friday

Bringing sorrow to the Royal community was the death last Friday morning, June 8, 1934, of Mrs. M.C. Maccabee, 68, resident since 1884. Her death, which came suddenly, was attributed to heart disease.

Mrs. Maccabee was laid to rest in the Trimello cemetery at Royal following funeral services held Monday afternoon at two o'clock at the M.E. church in Royal. Rev. H.R. Hotchkiss, pastor, conducted, and also comforted the faily in a prayer service at the home just preceding the church rites.

New Yorker by Birth

Ida Jane Lynn, ninth child of ten born to Isaac and Mary Cornell Lynn, was born near Syracuse, N.E., June 23, 1865, being 68 years, 11 months and 16 days of age at her death. At the age of 17 years, she moved with her parents to Cherokee county, Iowa. Her marriage to Milton C. Maccabee was solemnized November 1, 1883. The year following they moved to the Royal community, taking up their present home in Royal proper in 1919.

Two sons and two daughters were born to this union, one son, Eddie, and a daughter, Mrs. Cora Peterson, of Comfrey, Minn., preceding her in death. The son passed away at the age of 2 1/2 years, and Mrs. Peterson in 1928.

Many Survive

Bereaved relatives are her husband, Mr. Maccabee; a daughter, Mrs. James Peterson, her husband and two children, Floyd and Avah, of Royal; a son, Earl Maccabee, wife and two children, Keith and Phyllis, of Oak Park, Ill., a son-in-law, Perry Peterson, and six children, Leslie, Gladys, Ethel, and Hazel of Comfrey, Minn., Mrs. Alice Johnson and Frederick Maccabbee of Jeffries, Minn.; a great-grandson, Vernon Johnson; a sister, Mrs. Della Wagner of Eugene, Ore.; a brother, Franklin Lynn of Syracuse, N.Y., and other relatives and many friends.

Early in life Mrs. Maccabee testified to her religious convictions by uniting with the Christian church at Spencer. Upon organization of the Royal church, she made a membership transfer. She was also a member of the Rebekah lodge.

Splendid Woman

Mrs. Maccabee was an adequate exemplification of good womanhood. She was devoted to her family and kept her home in an immaculate condition. Her life was marked by her kindly interest in her many friends and neighbors. She took special pride in their welfare, and comforted them in their sad hours. She leaves a vacancy in the hearts of her many acquaintances that will not easily be filled.
