SERVICES
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 A.M., Tuesday, December 14, 2010, at the Warner Chapel in Spencer.

Military services will be conducted by the American Legion - Glen Pedersen Post #1 of Spencer.

Daniel 'Hooter' James Gibson, the son of James Dudley and Frances Helen (Klinker) Gibson, was born May 8, 1951 in Spencer, Iowa. His childhood years were spent in the Gillett Grove, Iowa area, where he received his education, graduating from South Clay High School in 1970.

He moved to California with his sister, Teresa and her husband and daughter in 1971. He entered the military and served with the U.S. Army at Fort Ord, California, until his honorable discharge in 1973.

Danny made California his home for the rest of his life, living with his sister and her family. Danny loved driving truck and through the years, he was employed driving truck for several different companies in California, until forced to quit because of heart problems. He loved people and doing good deeds for them. For the past few years, he enjoyed doing volunteer work for the American Legion in Sunland, California.

Danny passed away at the V.A. Hospital in Los Angeles, CA on Saturday, December 4, 2010 at the age of 59 after a couragious battle with cancer.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a niece, Brenda Brown and a brother-in-law, Dick Saeugling.

He is survived by six older sisters and their husbands: Sharen and Nile Brown of Webb, IA, Karen Saeugling of Garner, IA, Rosalie and Robert Wassom of Mason City, IA, Barbara and Larry Slota of Spencer, Teresa and Larry Bartelson of Sunland, CA and Connie and James Lehan of Spencer, IA; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.

Special lifelong friends since the school days were Dan Petersen and Dan Crone, who made up the 'Three D's'.
