Spencer, IowaLeRoy Merril Brigham, the son of Henry Arthur and Minnie (Anderson) Brigham, was born March 16, 1922 in Clay County, Iowa. His childhood years were spent in the Milford, Iowa area, where he received his education, graduating from Milford High School.
LeRoy married Gladys Carr on September 5, 1943 in Spencer, IA. Following their marriage, they moved to Hartley, Iowa, where they farmed until 1975. He worked at Superior Manufacturing for one year and later Eaton Corporation in Spencer, until his retirement in 1988. He later worked part time for the City of Hartley as scalemaster. Over a 25 year period, he worked with the ASC Committee measuring farmland.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Hartley, as well as the Lion's Club. LeRoy enjoyed quilting, Domino's, word search, playing cards, watching sports and fishing. His greatest love was his family and spending time with them.
Mr. Brigham passed away at the Community Memorial Health Center in Hartley, Iowa on Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at the age of 88.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Gladys in 2005 and two brothers, Harold and Arthur; a sister, Helen Schoorman; one granddaughter, Tanya Brigham.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Carla Fitzgerald and her husband, Timothy of Panora, IA; two sons: Donald Brigham and his wife, Barbara of Hartley, IA and Dale Brigham and his friend, Deb of Spencer; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren; one sister, Esther Haburn of Spirit Lake, IA; one sister-in-law, Helen Brigham of Everly; other relatives and friends.
