Services for Orpha Marcella Evans, 87, Gillett Grove, will be at 1:30 p.m., Friday at Warner Chapel. The Rev. Judy Deweber will officiate at the services.

Mrs. Evans died Wednesday at the Good Samaritan Home in Laurens.

Burial will be in the Dickens Cemetery.

Casket Bearers: Darrel Richardson, Darren Richardson, Tim Reilly, John Evans, Ken Evans and Rod Rouse.

The daughter of John and Amelia (Humphries) Warwick. Mrs. Evans was born May 31, 1900 in Marathon. Her childhood years were spent in the Gillett Grove area and it was int eh country schools she received her early education. She continued her schooling at the Gillett Grove High School, where she was a member of its first graduation class.

She married Arthur Evans, August 31, 1923 in Spencer. Throughout their marriage they made their home in the Gillett Grove community. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Gillett Grove.

Mrs. Evans was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and infant grandson, two sisters and one brother.

Survivors include her son Arthur Evans, Jr., of Spencer; one daughter and her husband, Shirley and Gale Alger of Gillett Grove; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one sister, Vera Dalton of Dickens.

The Warner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
