Joy Lynne Williams, daughter of Charles F. and H. Maxine (Wood) Lewis, was born February 2, 1951, in Emmetsburg, Iowa. Her family moved near Winterset where Joy attended school, graduating from Stanzel Christian High School in 1969.

On May 8, 1971, Joy was united in marriage to Elmer L. Williams at the First Baptist Church in Curlew, Iowa. To this union two sons were born.

Joy was employed at Longhouse Northshire in Spencer, as a CNA for over twenty years. In 1993 she began working at the Milford Nursing Home where she was a CNA until 1996. At that time she accepted a position at Sunshine Group Home and was currently still working there.

Joy’s love of people was evident in all of the years she spent caring for others. One of the greatest highlights in her life were her three grandchildren. She loved every minute she was able to spend with them. Joy also enjoyed doing cross stitch, embroidery, and crocheting. She was an avid reader of all types of literature.

She was a devoted and active member of the Spencer Family Church. Joy found a beautiful way to share her love for her church family as well as anyone she came in contact with. She sent countless numbers of cards to friends and family for all occasions, or even if she thought a card would brighten someone’s day. If Joy had met you, you became family to her.

Joy passed away Thursday, August 16, 2012, at the Spencer Municipal Hospital at the age of 61. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Norma A. Hanson; and a brother, C. Gaylord Lewis.

She is survived by her husband, Elmer of Spencer, Iowa; her children, Allen (Sara) Williams of Spencer, Iowa and Clyde J. (Trista) Williams of Spencer, Iowa; three grandchildren, Noah Swenson, Misty and Anjel Williams of Spencer, Iowa; a sister, Betty (Roger) Holaday of Massena, Iowa; nieces and nephews; as well as many other relatives and countless friends.
