Friday, Sept. 20, 1957OBITUARY.
Guy Parks was born on January 8, 1885, in Cummings, Wyo., son of Charles and Lucria Parks. He died September 14, 1957, at his home at 315 West Fourth street after a lingering illness at the age of 72 years, eight months and six days.
When but a small child he came with his mother to Clay county. There he resided for the last 50 years. In September of 1949, he with his family moved to present home from the farm.
He was united in marriage on November 7, 1920, to Mildred Flipsey. To this union, 8 children were born. Five daughters and three sons: Lucille, Mrs. Raymond Ollinger of Spencer; Leslie Parks, Sun Valley, Calif.; Charlene, Mrs. Vaughn Walton, Ontario, Calif.; Wava, Mrs. George Dailey, Central City, S. Dak.; Frank C. Parks, Spencer; Margaret, Mrs. John Kobold, Spencer; and Loretta Parks at home.
A son, Harold Parks, preceded him in death on August 11, 1946. Surviving are his wife, children, 14 grandchildren and 2 sisters, Mrs. Beatrice Anderson, Montevideo, Minn., Mrs. Iva Warnke, of Emmetsburg, nieces and nephews also other relatives and friends.
In his earlier days he spent his spare time playing baseball, and in his later years, followed the big league games on the radio.
Services were held Sept. 17, at 1:30 p.m. in the Warner chapel with Rev. Floyd Hinshaw officiating. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery.
Harold Brigham sang “In The Garden” and “Rock of Ages” accompanied by Mrs. Earl Klassey at the organ.
Pall bearers were Russell Hoberg, Elmer Anderson, Max Putbrese, Gerhard Wolthuis, Glen Dingman, Millard Huston.
