Mr. Charley Culver left Tuesday evening for Excelsior Springs where he was called on account of the dangerous illness of his daughter, Mrs. Maurice McCurdy who went there a few weeks ago but before Mr. Culver could reach there word was received here of her death. Mr. Culver came Saturday evening with Mrs. McCurdy's remains.

Obituary

Fannie Leonara Culver was born Jan. 9, 1884, at Dickens. She was married to Maurice McCurdy Sept. 18, 1907. To this union two children were born, Merril Vincent and Vera Maurine. Mrs. Curdy [sic] lived with her husband at Leal, North Dakota, for five years, one year being spent on homestead. A few months ago she was informed that the dread disease, diabetes, had fastened its hold upon her, and all that money and friends could do was done to prolong life. Two weeks ago she went to Excelsior Springs, Mo., and on Wednesday, October 1, at 11 a.m. she went to meet her God. The body was brought to the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Culver of Dickens. The funeral was held Sunday at the Methodist church at two p.m., conducted by Rev. Tompkins of Ruthven assisted by Rev. Waudby of Dickens. The choir of the Congregational church sang three beautiful selections.

Mrs. McCurdy was an exceptionally fine lady, filling every place in life nobly. She was an exemplary daughter, a devoted mother and a faithful wife, and a leader in social circles. She was a consistent Christian lady and engaged in Christian work from her early childhood. She easily made friends and leaves a large circle of friends to mourn her loss.

The funeral was largely attended, four of her brothers, Rev. Harry of Springville, Ed of Egan, South Dakota, Percy of Upland, Indiana, Ellsworth of Dickens, Wm. McCurdy Jr., of Two Harbors, Minnesota, and Archie McCurdy of Dickens acting as pall bearers.

This beautiful character will be mourned by many warm friends.
