THE CALL CAME

Anders Larsen, whose home was on section twenty-nine, Meadow township, died Sunday, aged 74 years, 5 months and 27 days. The funeral was held Tuesday, short services held at the home at 1 p.m., and other services were held at 2 p.m. at the Danish Lutheran church, Meadow township, Rev. Soholm, of Royal, and Rev. E.C. Jessup, of Spencer, conducting the services, the former speaking in the Danish language and the latter in English. There was a general turnout of the people of that community, all of whom were desirous of paying their last tribute of respect to their friend and worthy citizen. Burial was in Fairview cemetery, near the church.

Deceased was born in Denmark, February 5, 1835, and lived in his native country until 1871, when he emigrated to America, reaching here the spring of that year. He purchased a farm in Meadow township, and then began in earnest to work out his destiny in the land of his adoption. Energy and prudence characterized him at all times, and even to the casual observer it was easy to see that he was prosperous. His land interests grew until he was the owner of one of the best improved and best stocked sections farms in Clay county. And while he was active and zealous in business, he never lost sight of the educational, moral and spiritual side of life. His home life was ideal and a devoted wife, four sons and one daughter live to call him blessed. Mr. Larsen was truly a model man and citizen, and fortunate is the community which has such a helpful influence in its midst.
