Harley Freeman Ham, aged nearly seventy-one years, died Thursday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. I.W. Lucckens, 561 Water street following an attack of heart trouble. Mr. Ham has been a resident of this county for the past ten years.

Harley Freeman Ham was born September 24, 1852, in Illinois, and at the time of his death was 70 years, 10 months and 4 days of age. When a young man he came to Iowa and was married at Waterlook, February 25, 1872, to Miss Oella Byers. Mr. and Mrs. Ham lived for some time in Nebraska and also spent some time in Nora Springs, and Charles City, Iowa. Mr. Ham followed the carpenter trade during the active part of his life.

Mr. and Mrs. Ham became the parents of two children, Mrs. Lueckens of this city and Mervin Ham of Canada. Besides the children who survive, there is one granddaughter, Oella Lucckens, and several sisters and brothers. The latter are: Bert Ham and Mrs. James Cook of Independence, Iowa; Otho Ham of Jessup, Iowa; Will Ham of Waterloo, Iowa, and Mrs. Nina Stumma of Shady Grove, Iowa.

The funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the I.W. Lueckens' home and were conducted by the Rev. E. Merle Adams, pastor of the Congregational church. Interment was made in Riverside.
