Mrs. Walter Dickinson

The many friends of Mrs. Walter Dickinson were shocked to hear of her death which occurred at her home on west Park avenue Thursday morning, September 14, at ten forty-five o'clock. Mrs. Dickinson had been in poor health for the past year but her condition was not considered serious. She was alone at home Thursday morning when she was taken ill. She called in one of the neighbors who immediately telephoned for the doctor and Mr. Dickinson who was at work down town. Mr. Dickinson left his work and went home immediately, arriving there about ten minutes before the death of his wife, which was due to heart failure.

Opal Pearl Emerson, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Emerson, East Eighth street, was born on the Emerson homestead at Emerson's Bay, Lake Okoboji, September 29, 1885, and was at the time of her death almost thirty-six years of age. She attended the Milford schools and her life since finishing school had been spent in Dickinson and Clay counties.

She was first married to Mr. Eugene Palmquist and to this union, a daughter, Miss June, was born. She was married to Mr. Walter Dickinson of this city and since that time had made her home on West Park avenue.

Besides her grief stricken parents, Mr. and Mrs. Emerson, her husband and her daughter June, Mrs. Dickinson is survived by a step son, Harold Dickinson, a sister, Mrs. R.A. Peterson, of Milford, Iowa, and a countless number of friends.

Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon at two-thirty o'clock by the Rev. W.F Hurst, pastor of the Church of Christ, at the Grace Methodist church. Burial was made in Riverside cemetery.

Mrs. Dickinson was a faithful member of the Church of Christ and one of the active workers in the church. She was also a member of the Spencer Mothers Club and of the Milford Girls Club.

Out of town people attending the funeral services were Mr. and Mrs. C.E. Hassinger of Morton, Minnesota, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Sassinger of Morton, Minnesota, Mr. and Mrs. F.W. Miller of Sheldon, Mr. and Mrs. R.A. Peterson of Milford, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Emerson of Superior, and Miss Josephine Dickinson of Emmetsburg.
