Burial will be prior to the service at 10:00 a.m., at the Oakland Cemetery in Peterson, Iowa

William (Bill) H. Carrington, the son of Ceryl and Emily (Brighthop) Carrington, was born December 19, 1918, in Washta, IA, where he received his education. He entered the military and served with the U.S. Army from 1939 to 1945 during WW II.

Bill married Helen Schultz on October 26, 1947. Following their marriage, they lived in Kingsley before moving to Peterson in 1950, where they farmed. In 1993, they moved into the town of Peterson where he had resided until the time of his death.

He was a member of the First Congregational Church and the American Legion in Peterson. Bill was a devoted father and grandfather as well as a great companion to his wife, Helen for 60 years. After retiring from farming, he became an avid gardener and craftsman.

Bill passed away at the Spencer Hospital on Thursday, May 22, 2008, at the age of 89. He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Lynnette; one brother, Dick; and 2 sisters, Edna and Frances.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Helen of Peterson, IA; son, Bruce of Florida; daughter-in-law, Jane of Ankeny, IA; son, Dean and his wife, Margaret of Storm Lake, IA; daughter, Denise and her husband, Dave Riley of Peterson, IA; son, David of Storm Lake, IA; 13 grandchildren: Todd (Audrey) Johns, Tracy (Todd) Cross, Shannon (Jim) Kelley, Jen (Todd) Heying, Nicole (Nathan) Norgaard, Amy (Ross) Thede, Bill Carrington, Erin (Chris) Cartwright, Mandy Riley, Katie Glenn, Andy (Selena) Carrington, Liz Carrington, Becca (Joe) Farley,; 16 great- grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
