Margaret Mary Nelson, the daughter of Charles T. and Sopha (Miller) Kiley, was born August 20, 1930 in DeWitt County, Illinois. Her childhood years were spent in the Gillett Grove, Iowa area where she received her education, graduating from Gillett Grove High School. She continued her education at Buena Vista College in Storm Lake and later did her post-graduate studies in Greeley, Colorado. Following her schooling, she taught school.

Margaret married Charles Nelson on November 27, 1957, in Marathon, Iowa. Following their marriage, she continued to teach for 11 years. She later worked at the Deli Department of Super Value for 17 years.

She was a member of Christ The King Lutheran Church in Spencer. She was a past member of the Dickens Commercial Club and Dickens Auxiliary. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, crocheting, knitting, tatting and quilting.

Margaret passed away at her home in Spencer on Thursday, February 21, 2008, at the age of 77. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers: Paul and Charles; one sister, Eileen Johnson; and son-in-law, Kevin Moss.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Charles R. Nelson of Spencer, IA; son, Carl (Andy) Nelson of Spencer, IA; daughter-in-law, Sue Nelson of Spencer, IA; daughter, Peggy Ann Moss of Eagan, MN; 5 grandchildren: Amanda and Justin Nelson, Cindy, Scott and Keith Moss; one sister, Gertrude Sutherland of Dickens, IA; two brothers: Edwin Kiley and wife, Bev of Duedin, FL and Larry Kiley and wife, Joyce of Platsville, CO; other relatives and many friends.
