Alice Birchard, the daughter of Benton and Alice (Backstrom) Birchard, was born April 22, 1943 in Gillett Grove, Iowa. Her childhood years were spent in Gillett Grove, where she received her education, graduating from Gillett Grove High School.

Following high school, she attended beauty school in Des Moines, Iowa. Following her graduation, she worked as a beautician for John Blair for several years, until her retirement.

Alice passed away at Longhouse Residence in Spencer, Iowa on Monday, January 28, 2008 at the age of 64. She was preceded in death by four sisters: Marlene Anderson, Wanda Mills, Betty Plautz and Loraine Birchard in infancy and three brothers: Elmer and Harold and Cecil Birchard.

She is survived by two brothers: Earl and his wife, Wanda Birchard of Spencer, Roger and his wife, Karen Birchard of Paullina, IA; two sisters: Blanche Foxhoven of Estherville, IA and Shirley and her husband, Robert Stone of Houston, Texas; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
