Helen Mildred Mills, the daughter of Russell and Hannah (Siefken) Adams, was born October 1, 1914 in Clay County, Rossie, Iowa. Her childhood years were spent in Rossie, Iowa, where she received her education, graduating in 1932. Following her schooling, she lived on a farm near Rossie and did housework for several families in the Rossie area.

Helen married Clarence (Dave) David Mills on March 5, 1938 in Hinton, Iowa. They farmed near Spencer for a short time following their marriage, before moving to the family farm near Greenville. Following their retirement in 1970, Dave and Helen moved to Orleans, Iowa, where they lived for many years. She recently moved to Hilltop Care Center in 2004.

Helen enjoyed playing softball during her younger years. She especially enjoyed her time playing cards, fishing, gardening and spending time outdoors.

Mrs. Mills passed away at the Hilltop Care Center in Spirit Lake, Iowa on Tuesday, January 2, 2007 at the age of 92.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dave in 1999; one daughter, Linda; three brothers: Tom, Donald (Pete) and Bill; 2 sisters: Marjorie Thomsen & Marian Korver; a grandson, Randy Olson and a great great grandson, Lee Michael Metelak.

She is survived by her three sons: Larry and his wife, Lillian of Detroit Lakes, MN, Jerry and his wife, Jeanette of Port Alsworth, Alaska and Mark and his wife, Leslie of Spirit Lake, IA; one daughter, Virginia Olson and her husband, Norvin of Spencer; six grandchildren; six great grandchildren; ; one sister: Lucille Rusk of Spencer; one brother, Harry Adams and his wife, Naomi of Wahpeton, IA; other relatives and friends.
