Rural Webb, IowaE. Louise Gowen, the daughter of Allison G. and Laura M. (Stover) Pinney, was born May 7, 1911 in Iowa City, Iowa. Her childhood years were spent in Webb, Iowa, where she received her education, graduating from Webb High School. Following her schooling, she worked for Spencer Dry Cleaners.
Louise married Rush A. Gowen on July 25, 1939 in Omaha, Nebraska. Following their marriage, they moved to Spencer, where she continued to work at Spencer Dry Cleaners. Louise also worked for Hansens years, until retiring in 1972 following 50 years in the dry cleaning business.
She was a longtime member of the United Methodist Church in Webb. She also loved to do crafts, take care of her yard and raise flowers.
Mrs. Gowen passed away at the Spencer Hospital on Sunday, December 24, 2006 at the age of 95.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Rush on November 5, 1981; one son, Lester Eugene; and two grandsons.
She is survived by four grandchildren, including Nancy and her husband, Steven Monroe of Concord, CA; 7 great grandchildren; an aunt, Emmalou Pinney of Iowa City, Iowa; other relatives and friends.
