Paul Walter Enger, the son of Walter J. and Lucille S. (Rynott) Enger, was born September 13, 1920 in Burlington, Iowa. His childhood years were spent in Burlington, where he received his education, graduating from Burlington High School. Following high school, he attended Burlington Junior College for one year. Paul entered the military in 1942 and served with the U.S. Army during WWII until his honorable discharge. He was with the 821 Tank Destroyers Batallion in the Battle of the Bulge.

Paul married Betty Jane Fritzsche on September 6, 1942 in Burlington, Iowa. After his service in the military, they moved to St. Paul Minnesota, where he began his career as a sales representative for Chittenden Eastman Company. In 1948, they moved to Spencer, Iowa, where he continued his career as a sales representative until his retirement in 1985. He was a very active member of the First Congregational Church in Spencer, where he sang in the church choir for many years and held many offices. He was also a member of the American Legion for 54 years, the Golden K Kiwanis and Score. Paul also enjoyed many golf vacations with his wife and friends.

Paul passed away at the Spencer Hospital on Friday, April 21, 2006 at the age of 85. His parents and his sister, Marian Broyles, preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Jane of Spencer; three sons: Ronald and his wife, Nancy Enger of Medford, Oregon, Christopher and his wife, Natalie Enger of Wayzata, Minnesota and Gregg Enger of Plymouth, Minnesota; six grandchildren; four great grandchildren; one brother, Mark and his wife, Etta May Enger of Front Royal, Virginia; three step grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
