Riverside Cemetery in SpencerAnita Teresa Lindgren Dyhrkopp was born on August 1, 1917, to Emil and Bessie (Sorenson) Lindgren in Moorhead, Iowa. She attended country school and graduated from Moorhead High School in 1934. After graduating from AIB business college in Des Moines, she worked in Spencer in the law office of Wilson Cornwall. Anita married Donald P. Dyhrkopp on May 22, 1944 in Sioux City, Iowa.
In the early 1960s, Anita began working as Deputy Clerk of Court for Clay County. With the retirement of Robert Keir, she was appointed Clerk of Court and later was elected and served as Clerk until she retired in 1980. Soon after, she traveled to Cameroon to be with her new granddaughter. She loved to travel and also made trips to England, Washington, D.C., and Canada. She continued to make Spencer her home until her death.
Over the years, Anita also enjoyed reading, gardening, golfing, bowling, bird watching, and spending time with her family. She was a member of the Spencer Area Concert Association, Arts on Grand, SCT Playhouse, and Bethany Lutheran Church.
Anita died of lung cancer on January 8, 2006, at Fairview Southdale Hospital in Edina, MN, surrounded by her three daughters.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her sister Virgie Larson. She is survived by her daughters: Donna Dyhrkopp Clarke and her husband John of Chevy Chase, MD; Joanne Schar and her husband H of Nairobi, Kenya; and Carol Cadmus and her husband Claton of St. Louis Park, MN; her grandchildren: Sean Clarke, Jennifer Cadmus Rafngard, Melissa Cadmus, Sarah Schar, and William Schar; and other relatives and friends.
