Erick Fingerson Passed Away After Lingering Illness

Death removed from the community Monday Erick Fingerson, well known resident of the city who had made his home here since a young man. He was 65 years and 10 days of age. For the past year and one-half he had been confined to his home at 790 East Fourth street, with a lingering illness, death being caused from complications.

Mr. Fingerson followed his trade of carpenter during his mature years with the exception of about 16 years when he served as rural carrier from the Spencer post office.

He is survived in the immediate family by his wife, Mrs. Fingerson, and seven children, Mrs. Harvey Thomas of Tucson, Ariz., Mrs. Joseph Jakobe of Mankato, Minn. who came to attend the last rites, Mrs. Harold Sorenson, Mrs. Ralph Dillingham, Miss Stella Fingerson and Roland Fingerson, all of Spencer, and Paul Fingerson of near Dickens. Others surviving are a sister, Mrs. Julius Christensen of this city, a brother in Oakland, Calif., and eight grandchildren.

Funeral Wednesday

Funeral services were held at the Bethany Lutheran church Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock and were attended by a large number of friends of the deceased man. Rev. Nyegaard, pastor, delivered the memorial sermon. The rites were preceded by a family prayer service at the home at 2 p. m.

Interment was in the Meadow township cemetery.

Mr. Fingerson was born in Norway June 16, 1868, and came as youth with his parents to this country, the family settling in Spencer soon after their arrival. August 1, 1896, he was united in marriage with Miss Christina Elsie Peterson. Seven children were born to the union, all surviving to mourn their father. He was preceded in death by five sisters and a brother.

During his life Mr. Fingerson was a member of the Danish Lutheran church and held affiliation with the Bethany Lutheran church of this city.
