Mary Ann Alexander, the daughter of Arthur and Mae Anderson Woodford, was born December 20, 1920 in Webb, Iowa. She received her early education and graduated from the Garfield High School in 1938 as the class Valedictorian.

Mary married Albert Leo Alexander on February 15, 1941 in Spencer, Iowa. Following their marriage, they farmed east of Webb and lived in four different farmsteads in that area. Mary enjoyed cooking, which she was well known for her wonderful meals. She also enjoyed doing needlework, playing cards and gardening. Mary was a great sports enthusiast who loved following the Cubs and Iowa Hawkeys, but most of all Mary loved spending time with her grandchildren. In 1976, Leo and Mary began wintering in Arkansas and they then became Razorback fans and in 2001, they moved into the Highlands in Spencer.

Mary passed away on November 10, 2007 at the McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD at the age of 86. She was preceded in death by her parents; infant son, John Alexander; brother, Kenneth Woodford and a sister, Vera Anderson.

She is survived by her husband, Leo of Spencer; 2 sons and their wives: Leslie and Linda Alexander of Iowa Falls, IA and Dean and Janice Alexander of Springdale, AR; one daughter and her husband: Carol and Bill Bellinghausen of Huntersville, NC; 8 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; two sisters: Dorothy Weber of Webb, IA and Eleanor Essick of Spencer, IA; other relatives and many friends.
