Mrs. Nes Hjelm, 87, esteemed resident of Spencer and mother of Louis Helm, city mail carrier, passed away Saturday, January 26, 1935, at 7:40 o'clock a.m., following a long illness which caused her much distress and pain. Her death, which was attributed to infirmities of old age, occurred on the 56th anniversary of her wedding.
A large number of friends attended funeral services which were held Tuesday afternoon at two o'clock at the Cobb funeral home. Rev. Forrest L. Richeson, pastor of the Christian church, delivered the funeral address, speaking highly of the fine character of Mrs. Hjelm. With Mrs. Liza Nelson at the piano, a quartet composed of Elmer Nelson, Elsie Nelson, Ethna Beck and Theodore Nelson, all of Royal, sang "City Four Square" and "Sweet Bye and Bye." Elmer Nelson offered a solo, 'Saved by Grace." With the exception of Miss Beck, those taking part were relatives of Mrs. Hjelm.
