Arthur Joseph Berenger
March 24, 1889- March 26, 1941Arthur Berenger,a life-time resident of Clay County, passed away very suddenly late Wednesday afternoon at the Spencer Hospital, shortly after being admitted that same afternoon. The deceased had been suffering from a severe attack of flu and complications.
Arthur Joseph Berenger, son of John and Harriet Berenger, was born March 24, 1889 at Everly, Iowa. He passed away March 26, 1941 at the age of 52 years and 2 days.
He grew to manhood in Everly where he engaged in draying and barbering. Twenty-five years ago he began farming which had been his occupation until March 1 of this year. He and his family were making arrangements to move to Dickens at the time of his death where they had purchased a property.
Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. from the Jones Funeral Home and at 2 p.m. from the Congregational Church in Spencer. Rev. Lawrence Weinert officiated at the services.
Pallbearers; Peter Asmusen, George Heikens, Jerry Ryno, Charley Ryno, Earl Schuck and Walter VandeMark.
Burial was in the Lone Tree Cemetery at Everly. He is survived by his wife and thirteen children, Earl, Henry, Henrietta, Lola, Helen, Gilbert, Wayne, Carol, Robert, Lowell, Gloria Rae, Phyllis, Donald and Janice Kay. One son preceded him in death thirteen years ago.
Also surviving are two sisters, Lorraine of Spencer and Anna of California and one brother, Henry of Michigan.
