Marie Magalena Dykstra, 93, passed away at the Sutherland Care Center on Friday, January 20, 2006.

Graveside services will be held at a later date in First Reformed Cemetery rural Fostoria.

Marie, the daughter of Bendert A. and Jennie Marie (Niezwaag) Dykstra, was born December 15, 1912, in Parker, South Dakota. Her childhood years were spent at Parker where she received her early education.

Following the death of her mother, they moved to Doon, where she graduated from Doon High School. Following her schooling, she worked in the farm home caring for her father and brother, Bernard.

For the last 65 years, Marie was institutionalized at the Milford Care Center due to her illness and since 1974 at the Sutherland Care Center in Sutherland. She was a member of the First Reformed Church in rural Fostoria.

She was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters and two brothers.

Marie is survived by several nieces and nephews, including Phyllis and her husband, Donald Nielsen of Milford; Dorothy, Mrs, Edwin Galm and Lester Dykstra of Everly; Vernon Dykstra of Hartley; Elmer Dykstra and Norman VanEnter of Spencer; Betty, Mrs Leonard Bonker of Harlingen, Texas; Jaris Mulder of Grand Rapids, Michigan; and Linda, Judy, Nancy and Robert Dykstra of Idaho.

Warner Funeral Home of Spencer is in charge of arrangements.
