Dora Mae Pedersen, the daughter of Peter and Dora (Nielsen) Asmussen, was born on August 11, 1933 in Hartley, Iowa. Dora was raised by George and Minnie Dumkrieger in Royal, where she received her education graduating from Royal High School.

Dora married Ivan Harold Pedersen on September 11, 1950 in Sioux City, Iowa. Following their marriage, Ivan entered the military, serving in the U.S. Army. In 1953, after Ivan's return the couple owned and operated L.P. Gas and then ran the Champlin Gas Station for 18 years. In their later years, Dora and Ivan enjoyed doing crafts together out of their home. Dora liked to knit and belonged to a knitting club, crochet and playing cards. She was very involved in the church and the UMW. She loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and was a joy to all of them.

Dora passed away at the Spencer Hospital on Sunday, May 18, 2008 at the age of 74. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Left to cherish her memory are her two sons and their wives: Lonnie and Debbie Pedersen of Wapakoneta, OH and Larry and Cecil Pedersen of Royal, IA; two daughters and their husbands: Luanne and David Saboe of Royal, IA and Lori and Rev. Robert Alexander of Clayton, IL; 11 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Florence Asmussen of Royal, IA; her extended family, JoAnn Hamm of Sun City, AZ, Danny Roberts of San Diego, CA and Diane Krueger and her husband, Gary of Arnolds Park, IA; other relatives and friends.
