VERMILLION — Francilla “Fran” Louise Heckathorn, 87, of Vermillion died Friday, Oct. 14, 2011, at Sanford Vermillion Care Center.
Funeral services are at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Hillside Community Church, Vermillion. Burial will be in Liberty Cemetery in rural Greenville, Iowa, at 2:30 p.m.
Visitations are 5-7 p.m. Sunday at Kober Funeral Home, Vermillion, with a prayer service and video tribute to begin at 6:30 p.m.

Francilla “Fran” Louise Heckathorn, 87, of Vermillion passed away on Friday, October 14, 2011 at Sanford Vermillion Care Center.
Fran was born on September 1, 1924 in Emerson, NE to Albert and Mayme (Demers) Hopp. She was baptized and confirmed in the German Lutheran Church in Emerson, NE. She graduated from high school in Emerson. She married Wilson “Bill” Heckathorn in April 1943, and they had two sons – Wayne and Darrel. Fran and Bill enjoyed their time together until Bill passed away in 1968.
In 1982, Fran moved to Elk Point and lived on the farm. Soon after, she was rebaptized on a confession of faith in April 1983. She later moved to Yankton in 1998. Fran’s family was her life, and she loved spending time with them. She also loved reading, talking and working on crosswords.
She is survived by her sons Wayne (Jackie) Heckathorn and Darrel (Nancy) Heckathorn; grandchildren Tracy, Jeannie, Monica, Heather, Amanda, Shellie, Chad and Bill; and many great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband Wilson “Bill” Heckathorn; and father Albert Hopp.
