Francis Elvin, Dies Following Short Illness
Overcome at the fairground during the races Saturdy, Francis A. Elvin, 27, never recovered from the illness, passing away Monday, October 2, at his farm home in Riverside township from uremic poisoning. He had been in failing health this summer.
He was removed to the local hospital from the fair grounds, being taken to his home Sunday.
He is survived by his wife, Alma Elvin, and two children, Robert 4 1/2, and Mary Ellen, 2 months, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Elvin, at home, and a sister, Mrs. Edward Pierce, 375 West Third street.
Funeral Wednesday
Requiem was held Wednesday morning at 9:30 at the Sacred Heart Catholic church, Spencer, with the Rev. M.C. Wendl in charge.
Casket bearers were Elmer Carlsen, John Foren, Charles Olson, Kenneth Chamberlain, Lee Mundus and Joe Milleman.
Mr. Elvin had been a resident of Clay county since 1917. He moved here with his parents from Story county where he was born June 4, 1906, the son of John E. and Neatus Egleston Elvin.
Engaged in Farming
February 18, 1928, he was united in marriage to Alma Heick of Spencer. He was a farmer by occupation, living for a time in Meadow township, and moving six months ago to the place in Riverside township.
