Elizabeth Jane Wilson was born August 24, 1851, at Xenia, Miami Co., Indiana, and passed away following a lingering illness Dec. 6, 1923, at the age of 72 years, 3 months and 13 days.

She spent her early childhood with her parents in Indiana. The family then moved to New Providence, Iowa, where they resided for ten or eleven years, after which Iowa Falls was their home until 1871, when the family came to Clay co., making their home southwest of Spencer.

She finished school while at Iowa Falls, and taught school after coming to Clay Co. She was a very successful teacher.

On Nov. 2, 1873, she was united in marriage with Peter Dubois at Sioux Rapids, Iowa. They made their home on a far in Douglas township for several years, then moved on the farm in Harmony community which was their home until they moved to Gillett Grove eight years ago.

Six children were born to this union, Herbert Milton, Byron Wesley, Clara Belle, Minnie Estelle, Elmer Claude and Eleanor Maude.

The deceased was preceded in death by three of these children, Herbert Milton at the age of 3 years, 11 month and 2 days, Byron Wesley aged 11 months and 2 days, and Clara Belle, who became Mrs. Chas. Pitzer, at the age of 28 years and 24 days, also two brothers and three sisters.

Mrs. Dubois leaves besides her husband, three children, Mrs. Geo. Freeman of Gillett Grove, Mrs. E.C. Moore of Gillett Grove, Elmer Dubois of Harmony, eleven grandchildren, three brothers, William C. Wilson of Livermore, Iowa; D.O. Wilson of Winfield, Kan.; and O.N. Wilson of Medford, Oregon; and two sisters, Mrs. F.R. Mason of Webster City, Iowa, whose devotion and attendance upon her sister during her long illness was a true expression of sisterly love; and Mrs. C.W. Fraley of Ashland, Oregon.

She had a birthright in the Friends church. She was an active Christian with a calm but sure trust in God, and a good faithful mother and wife. Self denial and sacrifice were natural to her. She and her husband reared two of the grandchildren who were left at their daughter's death.

Her passing was very beautiful. She called her children to her bedside several days before her death, and prayed with them and for them, also all relations, friends and neighbors, and then prayed the Heavenly Father would take her home.

Funeral services were held at the church Saturday at 2 p.m., Rev. S.I. Jacobson officiating. The remains were laid to rest in the Fannie Fern cemetery north of Sioux Rapids. The floral offerings were beautiful and many, and this was one of the largest funerals in Gillett Grove.

Friends near and far extend their sympathy to the bereaved ones.
