Henry Louis Culver was born near Mazomania, Wisconsin May 30, 1858, and died at his home in Spencer Aug. 18, 1913, after only a short illness. He came with his parents, Walter and Emily Culver, to this county in early childhood, settling on a homestead northeast of Dickens, where he spent twenty-nine years of his life.

In 1881 he was united in marriage with Rhoda Thompson, also of Clay County, and to them were born six children, Edna Brown, Ray and Elinor of McHenry, N. Dak., Carl, of Boise, Idaho, and Hazel and Evelyn, of Spencer.

In 1900, he with his family moved to North Dakota, settling near McHenry remaining there eight years. Wishing to avoid the strain of the severe winter there, they went west spending three years in Idaho and Oregon. In 1911 they returned to Spencer, and decided to make this their permanent home, that they might be near their many relatives and old time friends.

Mr. Culver was a good Christian neighbor, and as one of his strongest characteristics was "to make the right side the bright side," he made many warm friends wherever he lived.

Besides his home loved ones, he leaves to mourn his loss two brothers, C. W. Culver, of Dickens, W. W. Culver, of Caldwell Idaho, and one sister, Mrs. Emma Thompson, of Boise, Idaho. He was a devoted husband and a kind and loving father and brother.

The funeral service will be held at tho residence Thursday afternoon at 1 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Bond of the M.E. Church.
