OLD SOLDIER PASSES AWAY
G.T. Eade, Well Known Citizen Died at Home of His Son in IndianaMr. G.T. Eade was born in Cornwall, England, on March 3, 1837, and when nine years of age came to America with his folks settling at Galena, Ill., where he lived until 1858. He started overland for California and returned to Galena in a couple of years coming back by way of Cape Horn, and here he was married to Miss Elizabeth Boden, and to them three children were born, Sherman of this city, Frank of Attica, Indiana, and Anna, who married Harry Britton of this city and who died in October, 1903. Mr. Eade's first wife died in 1873 and he was married twice since that time his second wife dying a few years ago, and about a year ago he was married to Mrs. Ida J. Tuttle, who still survives him.
Mr. Eade came to Clay county in 1891 and this has been his home since with the exception of some time spent in travelling. He enlisted in the 20th Illinois Infantry during the civil war and served with credit and honor. He was with Sherman on his march to the sea and saw much active service.
Last June he was taken to the home of his son Frank at Attica, Indiana, where he died on Wednesday, October 30. The body was brought back to Spencer for burial, the funeral being held from the home of his son Sherman and the services were conducted by Rev. O.M. Bong and interment was in Riverside cemetery.
Mr. Eade was a good man, well liked and respected by a large circle of friends. He owned considerable property here. He was a member of the Methodist church and was always on the right side of all moral questions.
