CLINTON GREENE DIES

From Phoenix, Arizona, word came last night of the death of Clinton Greene, the son of Mr. and Mrs. A.W. Greene of Grove street in Spencer. For a number of years Mr. Greene put up a brave fight against tuberculosis even going to live in Arizona with the hope that the milder climate might restore him to health or at least lengthen his life.

Mr. Greene was born in Clay county, near Greenville, about thirty-five years ago. Even as a boy he showed signs of much promise, and had he always been in good health he probably would have brought no little honor to Spencer and Clay county. Only last fall he visited Spencer and renewed his acquaintance with his many old friends and then when cold weather came, he returned to Arizona. While away from his friends he always remembered them and wrote a number of interesting letters to them, letters that were published in the Spencer News. These were always cheerful in tone, always full of hope and filled with interesting descriptions and stories of the life in the west.

A brother, Dr. O. E. Greene of Whittier, California, will bring the body to Spencer for burial. No definite plans for the funeral services have been made as yet.
