Andrew J. Garvin, aged 81 years, for many years a resident of Riverton township, passed away Monday evening, February 28. He settled in Clay county twenty-five years ago and during this time held the respect and esteem of all by his honest, upright dealings and jovial, good nature.
Funeral services were held at the home Wednesday, conducted by Rev. Jesse Ralson, of Sheldon, pastor of the Dunkard church, of which deceased had been a life-long member.
Andrew J. Garvin was born in Fairfield county, Ohio, November 22, 1839. When a young man he moved with his parents near Warsaw, Indiana, where,in 1802, he was united in marriage to Miss Samantha Meyers. They moved from Indiana to Butler county, Iowa, where they remained until 1885 when they became residents of this county. Four children were born, all of whom are living: Jessie, of Idaho and Mrs. Luther Meyers, Elmer, and Mrs. Emma Anderson, residents of this city.
