WILLIAM BROWN DIES OF FEVER
SPENCER YOUNG MAN SUCCUMBS AFTER ILLNESS OF TWO WEEKS

The death of William Brown of Spencer last Sunday evening about 10 o'clock at the Spencer hospital, came as a blow to his scores of friends in this vicinity, since all had hoped for his early recovery from the new disease, malta fever, which he recently had contracted.

Only 27 years of age, Mr. Brown was an active young man who had held a prominent place in the community life. He was taken ill about two weeks ago and was put under a doctor's care shortly afterward.

Infection Set In

Careful diagnosis revealed he had contracted malta fever and that an infection had set in over his right lung. For a time he seemed to combat the disease and it was expected he would recover. His condition became grave late last week, however, and the infected lung kept down his chances of recovery.

William Joseph Brown, son of Mrs. Kate Brown of West Fourth street, was born on a farm near Webb, Dec. 20, 1901, and remained with his parents until he was six years of age. At that time the Brown family moved to Spencer, where they have since made their home. He received his education in the rural schools of Clay county and in the Spencer high school.

Wife, Children Survive

In Spencer, December 9, 1924, Mr. Brown united in marriage to Alta Synder. To this union were born two children, Grace Catherine, 4 years old and Billie, 1 year old.

After their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Brown moved to a farm west of Spencer where they were living at the time of his death. He was a member of Sacred Heart church of Spencer.

Mr. Brown is survived by his wife, and two small children, his mother, Mrs. Kate Brown, three sisters, Mrs. H.R. Carr of Council Bluffs, Miss Genevieve Brown of Marcus and Miss Lucille Brown at home, besides numerous other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services were held Wednesday morning at nine o'clock in the Sacred Heart church, Rev. Father Oaklin of Royal, had charge of the services. Burial was made in Riverside cemetery.
