Mrs. James Chesley, a highly respected resident of the Everly neighborhood, died Saturday. Her death was due to cancer from which she had long been a sufferer. The funeral was held Wednesday at 1 o'clock from the M. E. church at Everly and the remains were laid to rest in Riverside cemetery in this city. The bereaved ones have the sympathy of this community.
OBITUARY
Abigal French was born in Jones County, Iowa, June 27th, 1866. She was the daughter of Aaron French who died about seven years ago, her mother having died several years previous. She came to Clay County, Iowa with her father in the year 1881. She was married to James Chesley the 14th day of June, 1884. To them were born four sons, Thuel at Spencer, Iowa; Ery in O'Brien county, Iowa. The other children with two adopted daughters, are still at home with their father. She was a faithful, devoted wife and mother and will be missed by a large, circle of friends. She also leaves to mourn her loss four brothers, John French of Peterson, Ia.; Will French of Mt. Lake, Minn.; Simon French of Summit, S. D. and Isaac French of Royal, Ia., also three sisters, Elizabeth Orr of Jones county, Ia., Eliza Lyberger of Sioux Falls, S. D., and Rosella Stanton of Royal, Ia. She died the 12th day of December 1915.Source: Spencer Reporter, Spencer, Clay County, Iowa; December 22, 1915.
