Services for Mrs. Elkin

Services for Frances Ann Elkin, 68, of Greenville will be 2 p.m. Thursday in the First Christian Church. She died Tuesday in the Spencer Hospital.

The Rev. Keith Purscell will officiate, and burial will be in Northlawn Cemetery. Mrs. Keith Purscell will be organist, and Mrs. Bernard Freeburg, Jr. will sing "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere," "How Great Thou Art," and "Face to Face."

Bearers are Carlos Camp, Augie Burdette, Robert Salton, Dr. Darwin Hoover, Kenneth Crandall and Herb Clarke. Honorary pallbearers are Glen Kahley, E.H. Anderson, Derwin Myhr, Elmer Mickelson, John Wagoner and Chris Sorenson.

Mrs. Elkin was born April 18, 1905 at Pisgah, a daughter of Harvey and Ann Gee Olmstead. She was married in Estherville on June 14, 1931 to Marshall Elkin.

She was a teacher and worked with retarded children in Spencer, Algona and Wall Lake until she retired in 1972. She lived in the Greenville area for 29 years. She belonged to Rebekah's Christian Women's Fellowship, Retarded Children's Organization, First Christian Chruch and various teacher's organizations.

Preceding her in death were her husband in 1957, her parents, a daughter, Laura Marie, one brother, Newell Olmstead and one sister, Marie McCall.

Survivors include one son Marshall Earl Elkin of Loveland, Ohio, three [sic] daughters, Mrs. Wendell (Vivian Frances) Anderson of Greenville, and Mrs. Wayne (Doris June) Salton of Dickens; six brothers, Roscoe Olmstead of Hampton, Robert Olmstead of St. Paul, Minn., Shurrell Olmstead of Minneapolis, Minn., Howard Olmstead of Arlington, Tex.; two sisters, both of St. Paul, Minn., Miss Gladys Olmstead and Miss Maude Olmstead; and 13 grandchildren.

Warner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
